It is with great sorrow that the family wish to announce the passing of Theresa Carriere at the St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake on Saturday July 14, 2018 at the age of 79. Pre-deceased by her parents, Maurice & Laura Côté (née Bordeleau). Beloved wife of the late Leo Carriere (1996). Loving mother of Julie Burr and Denise Barnaby, both of Elliot Lake. Dear grandmother of Raymond & Danielle Barnaby and great grandmother of Charlotte & Leo Barnaby. Pre-deceased by her sister Georgette Lacasse. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Theresa started working as a clerk at Menard’s Department Store in Blind River, then after marrying Leo in 1963, moved to Elliot Lake where she gained employment at Gaylord’s until her retirement. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish CWL as well as the “McMuffin Club”. She will be missed by family and dear friends in and around the community. Visitation will be held at the Elliot Lake Funeral Chapel & Cremation Centre (36 Ontario Ave) on Thursday July 19 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday July 20, 2018 at 11 am from Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Father Anthony Man-Song-Hing officiating. Cremation to follow. Memorial contributions to the Elliot Lake Palliative Care Program or to St. Joseph’s Foundation of Elliot Lake would be appreciated by the family.
