Vera Catherine Bradley, wife of Archie Bradley -- mother to Gurperkarma ‘Marilyn Jill’ Khalsa (husband Guru Singh), Dale Bradley, Terry Bradley (wife Ruth), and Mark Bradley (wife Donna) -- passed away gracefully on Thursday March 28, 2019.
In addition to her four children, Vera had six grandchildren -- Haripurkh Khalsa (husband Scott) and Sopurkh Khalsa, Courtney Bradley (fiancé Brian) and Trevor Bradley (partner Mariah), Jason Murray (wife Jamie) and Mitchell Bradley. She was also blessed with seven great grandchildren. Vera was not only the family matriarch, she was everyone's best friend as well.
Raised as a fun loving and very spunky farm girl on Manitoulin Island by her parents, Neal and Florence McKechnie, she shared these early years with her sisters Rita and Jean. Like her mother, Vera’s creativity shone through her constant love of family, cross-stitching, knitting gifts and baking nearly everything imaginable, all the while, cooking delicious meals. She enriched our lives with all of the coziness one could need. Our family pets lifted Mom's spirit and her smile beamed as she recalled them hanging out with her.
Vera’s professional career was as a legal secretary...she was sharp, dedicated and respected throughout her years in the field. After retirement, she loved spending summers at the family beach camp on St. Joseph’s Island. “Favorite times with Mom and Grandma were spent sitting around the table eating her world class pies and butter tarts, having lunch at her house on school days, enjoying her greenthumb gardens, paddle boating and swimming at the family camp.”
Our deepest appreciation to her very close friends, Maureen and Dennis Smith, who loved her and supported her in so many ways.
She spent her last months at The Davey Home, where the staff has won our hearts with their kind, thoughtful and thorough care of our beloved Momma.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a family memorial gathering at a later date.
In remembrance of Vera, please consider making a donation to the Davey Home Foundation; the Alzheimer's Society, or an organization that serves our beautiful elders.
