Los Angeles FC re-signs Canadian international defender Dejan Jakovic

Los Angeles FC has re-signed Canadian Dejan Jakovic and fellow centre back Danilo Silva.

The 33-year-old Jakovic appeared in 15 regular-season games last year, reaching his 100-game and 100-start MLS milestones during the 2018 campaign.

The 32-year-old Silva, who initially joined LAFC on a six-month loan during the summer transfer window, played in 10 regular-season matches,

"Re-signing Danilo and Dejan was always part of our off-season plan, and we're excited that both players will be returning in 2019," LAFC GM John Thorrington said in a statement. "Danilo and Dejan add veteran leadership and experience to the group, and we're confident they will both contribute to the success of our club."

Prior to joining LAFC, Jakovic spent time with the NASL's New York Cosmos, Shimizu S-Pulse in Japan, D.C. United and Serbia's Red Star Belgrade.

The six-foot-two Jakovic, who was raised in Toronto, has won 41 caps for Canada. He is joined on the LAFC roster by fellow Canadian Mark-Anthony Kaye.

Silva spent two seasons with Internacional in his native Brazil before arriving in MLS. From 2010 to 2017, Silva played for Ukraine's Dynamo Kyiv.
