The Flames are looking to finish the job, while the Leafs were unable to. And the Oilers will be playing a Game 7 at home for the first time in over 30 years.
Here are five things to know as we head into Friday's post-season action:
FLAMES LOOK TO FINISH OFF STARS
The Calgary Flames will have a chance to finish off the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of their series Friday night, marking the first time since 2015 that the Flames would have won a first-round playoff series.
Calgary did win its qualifying series with the Winnipeg Jets in the 2020's bubble playoffs, but got bounced in the actual first round of that post-season by these same Stars in six games.
A win Friday night would be some revenge for that defeat from a couple of years ago and Calgary appears to have some momentum on their side heading into the game.
The Flames have won their last two games by a combined score of 7-2.
OILERS TO PLAY GAME 7 AT HOME FOR FIRST TIME IN A WHILE
The Edmonton Oilers forced Game 7 with the Los Angeles Kings after they came away with a 4-2 win Wednesday at Crypto.com Arena.
They'll play their Game 7 Saturday back at Rogers Place, marking the first time since April 16, 1990, that Edmonton will host a Game 7.
The last time the Oilers played a Game 7 at home, the top-grossing movie was the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film and Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" was topping the Billboard charts.
LEAFS STILL CAN'T GET THE JOB DONE
The Toronto Maple Leafs fell 4-3 in overtime to the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday, setting up a winner-take-all Game 7 between both sides Saturday night at Scotiabank Arena.
Toronto lost despite looking like the better team -- particularly in overtime -- as Bolts goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy improved his record after a post-season loss to a remarkable 17-0.
The Leafs haven't won a series since 2004 and once again failed to put a team away when they've had the chance.
BLUES REACH SECOND ROUND
The St. Louis Blues routed the Minnesota Wild Wednesday 5-1 to become just the second team in the Stanley Cup playoffs to reach the second round.
St. Louis came in as the lower seed to Minnesota but still managed to pull off the upset.
The Blues will see the Colorado Avalanche in the next round. The Avs completed their four-game sweep of the Nashville Predators on Tuesday and have been waiting to find out who they would face in the next round ever since.
The last time the Blues advanced to the second round, they won the Stanley Cup in 2019.
HOME COOKING
As the old adage goes, "a series doesn't start until the home team loses."
And judging by that logic, it would appear that the series between the Carolina Hurricanes and Boston Bruins hasn't actually begun yet, despite the fact there will only be one game left to play in it.
On Thursday, the Bruins topped the Hurricanes 5-2 at TF Garden to force a Game 7 Saturday night in a series that's only seen the home side win thus far.
Carolina will look to continue this trend at PNC Arena as the series has now become a best-of-one.
