The issue of cracked and bumpy streets in Elliot Lake is often the topic of conversation around coffee tables at city restaurants.

And each year the city requests tenders from company’s that do repairs on municipal streets.

The city’s director of public works Daryl Halloch recommended to council at its meeting Monday evening to approve a $62,000 tender from Northern Contracts and Maintenance Ltd. to do sealing work on city streets.

Halloch said the city had originally budgeted $65,000 for the work and was happy to see it come in $3,000 under budget.

He said the work is expected to get underway by mid-September.
