Elliot Lake’s City Hall is the latest municipally-owned building to sustain damage from water and snow on the roof.

City CAO Daniel Gagnon issued a news release stating the council chambers and equipment used to streamline council meeting on television sustained some minor water damage.

“Last week’s rain and melt caused some leaking at city hall over the council chambers,” Gagnon said in today’s release. “Unfortunately, it occurred near some of the equipment which had to be moved quickly to prevent any damage. Upon further investigation, some damage was identified on the roof, likely from recent snow removal efforts. That damage is minor and is being repaired today. Some drywall work needs to occur inside the council chambers and the equipment relocated/reinstalled.”

Gagnon said he expects the equipment will be in place to televise the council meeting on Monday.

“We anticipate the repairs to be done this week and regular televising/streaming of meetings to resume in time for council on March 25.”

Snow removal on the City Hall roof was done last week.
