ENVIRONMENT CANADA
**************************
Winter storm warning in effect for:
  • Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake
  • Blind River - Thessalon

Winter storm winding down tonight.

Snow at times heavy will persist into the evening hours. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are likely by tonight.

Strong southeast winds gusting to 50 km/h will whip up the freshly fallen snow resulting in blowing snow in many areas.

Conditions will gradually improve until the winter storm ends overnight.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

**************************
Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Espanola - Killarney

Snowfall with total amounts of about 15 cm continues.

Snow heavy at times will continue tonight. The snow may change briefly to mixed precipitation before tapering off to patchy freezing drizzle or drizzle later tonight.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
