Snowfall prompts travel advisory for Elliot Lake

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly, Environment Canada says

A winter travel advisory was issued Friday night for Elliot Lake in which Environment Canada warned of hazardous driving conditions. 

The poor road conditions were expected to persist into Saturday morning.

Weather advisory in effect for:

  • Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake

Winter weather travel advisory in effect.

Hazards:

Significantly reduced visibilities in blowing snow.
Peak snowfall rates of 2 cm per hour.
Snow accumulations 5 cm or locally up to 10 cm.

Timing:

Late this evening into early Saturday morning.

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
