Snow squall warning for:

  • Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island
  • Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake
  • Blind River - Thessalon
  • Espanola - Killarney
  • Manitoulin Island

Periods of brief but intense snowfall are expected. Visibilities will be rapidly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow.

A sharp cold front is sweeping across northeastern Ontario this afternoon. There have been reports of brief but significantly reduced visibilities in snow and blowing snow from Kapuskasing to Sault Ste. Marie with wind gusts to 65 km/h.

This front is expected to pass through Timmins during mid afternoon and through Sudbury early in the evening.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably - changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
