Elliot Lake dentist Dr. Nathan Haas and his Elliot Lake Dental Centre team are now providing dental care through the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP) in conjunction with Algoma Public Health.

The clinic, located at 33 Manitoba Rd. beside the Renaissance Centre, is both a dental and denture centre.

Dr. Haas purchased the practice in 2015 from Dr. Bourret and has been working in the community ever since.

Also on staff is denturist Tim Berkenbosch of Sault Ste Marie who fabricates dentures exclusively for Elliot Lake Dental Centre patients in Elliot Lake, Blind River and the North Shore.

Staff Orthodontist Dr. Michael O’Toole visits the office every six weeks from Sault Ste. Marie.

In addition, there are three dental hygienists, two dental assistants, and a sterilization technician employed at the Manitoba Road facility.

According to Hannele Dionisi, program manager of the OSDCP, Dr. Haas has a service level agreement with APH to provide dental care to seniors enrolled in the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP). Funding for this program is provided through the Ministry of Health.

"Dental care providers contracted through APH provide services to enrolled OSDC clients,” Dionisi said. “This arrangement is not exclusive to only one dentist and is available across Algoma, including Sault Ste. Marie and Wawa."

Information about who can qualify can be found here.

Dr. Haas graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1997 with his doctorate of dental surgery.

Since then, he has owned dental practices in Toronto, provided his expertise at University of Toronto as clinical teaching faculty and provided services in the remote communities program through the Ontario Dental Association.

He has also worked for Algoma Public Health providing dental services to patients of all ages at the Sault Ste. Marie clinic.

Residents of Elliot Lake, Blind River and other communities on the North Shore who qualify for this program can call the Elliot Lake Dental Centre office at 705-848-6885 to join.
