Both science centres have extensive expertise in providing engaging science experiences to students through field trips, said the province in a news release.
Science North also brings hands-on science to students and teachers across Northern Ontario through their outreach programs. This opportunity is a reflection of Science North’s reputation in the delivery of high-quality Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) programming with popular Bluecoats.
The Ontario Science Centre’s educators and hosts are also well known for their engaging demos and interactive lessons.
Science North and the Ontario Science Centre will support teachers and their work with students, to inspire them and build skills and core competencies through authentic learning experiences. STEM is at the forefront for developing students as they prepare for future academic and career selections. These learning experiences are vital to making connections between everyday life and the STEM disciplines, providing transferable skill sets to other subjects.
Science North will produce videos, lesson plans and printable worksheets in English and French for teachers from elementary school grades. The resources will provide teachers with independent, flexible, and interactive STEM concepts they can teach to their students.
The videos will cover each of the four science strands of the Ministry of Education curriculum, while also extending learning in areas such as literacy and mathematics. In addition, professional development videos for teachers will highlight inquiry-based lessons.

The Ontario Science Centre will focus on secondary school teachers, including video lessons in both English and French, accompanying printable resources that will offer additional learning experiences, and professional development teacher videos.
E-resources for K to 8 are available at sciencenorth.ca/teachers in English and French. New resources for secondary school teachers will be posted every Friday on the Ontario Science Centre’s website.
