Purolator Tackle Hunger is launching a Red Bag campaign in support of the Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank and the Spanish Food Bank this month.

The fundraiser takes place during the week of Oct. 15 through Oct. 22.

Purolator Tackle Hunger was created in 2003 by Purolator employees who were looking for a way they could support those in need in their local areas.

Purolator will be in Elliot Lake and Spanish on Saturday Oct. 15, to drop off 1,200 red bags on streets between and including Hillside South and Mississauga Avenue in Elliot Lake.

They're still working on a location in Spanish where Purolator drivers and volunteers will drop bags off at resident’s homes in those areas.

Those who receive a bag are being asked to fill it with nutritious, non-perishable food items.

On Oct. 22, Purolator and the community volunteers will pick up the bags and deliver them to the Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank and the Spanish Food Bank.

You can call the Emergency Food Bank in Elliot Lake at 705-461-3663 or email manager Len Kutchaw for more information.
