Elliot Lake Pride is hosting a fundraiser this Saturday to raise money for upcoming Pride celebrations.

Local Pride president Chantal Vaillancourt said money raised from the event, to be held at the Moose Lodge, is earmarked for the sixth annual Elliot Lake Pride Festival set for late May.

“This fundraising event will be a night filled with live musical entertainment featuring Zuzu’s Petals with special guest, Estella, live D.J., cash bar, free finger foods, snacks, door prizes and a silent auction,” Vaillancourt told ElliotLakeToday.  It is “intended to raise funds for the 6th annual Elliot Lake Pride festival and will be held at the Moose Lodge, starting at 7 p.m.”

“Elliot Lake Pride is an annual lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, 2-spirit and intersex (LGBTQ2SI) Pride Festival in the City of Elliot Lake,” the Pride president added. “The primary source of funding for Elliot Lake Pride is from corporate sponsors such as yourself. The Elliot Lake Pride Committee is a totally volunteer run organization.”

Organizers said the fundraiser is open to the public, including “visitors and residents without discrimination.”

“We welcome donations of any amount to help offset the costs associated with the fundraiser and assure the continuing success of our annual Pride festival. We also welcome items that can be used for a silent auction and/or raffles,” Vaillancourt said.

The cost is $20 per person.

This year’s Pride festival is set for May 25, 26, and 27. The festival will include flag-raising ceremonies in Elliot Lake and could also include surrounding communities. Also planned is a game of blingo, a kickoff party, parade, barbecue, Miss Conception show, after party and church service.

Festival tickets are expected to go on sale soon. For more information, people can go here.
