For the second year in a row, Sacred Heart Catholic School in Espanola is the recipient of a special donation from Moose FM CJJM 99.3-Espanola.

As part of it's licensing obligation with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission  (CRTC) the station's parent company, VISTA Radio, has certain obligations including a requirement to support local community initiatives.

Morning Host and Regional Reporter, Rosalind Russell, nominated the Sacred Heart music program for a $1,800 donation.

In her words, "A portion of revenues must go to community initiatives as part of our agreement with the CRTC, and it is definitely a highlight, not only for the recipient but also for us, as a broadcast company, to give back to our communities."

"We are happy to support the music program at Sacred Heart so the school will be able to make even more music," stated Russell.

This marks the second year in a row that Sacred Heart has been the recipient of a $1,800 gift from VISTA Radio.

Principal Syndy Withers said, “In a time with so much bad news, it was truly a blessing to learn of this generous contribution to our school's music program.”

“Sacred Heart School is grateful to VISTA Radio and Moose 99.3FM for this donation. This is the second time we have been the beneficiary of such generosity and we thank all those who contributed to enhance this vital program,” added Withers.

“Running a quality music education program comes with considerable costs to purchase and maintain instruments. This donation from The Moose keeps us one step closer to being able to offer instrumental music to all of our grade 7/8 students. Even though we can’t make music in the same room right now, you will still be hearing from the Sacred Heart bands this year,” said Music Teacher Jodi Bourcier.

Russell concluded, “I have long admired Jodi Bourcier and her hard work with the students in the music programs at Sacred Heart. You can tell she and the kids absolutely love what they do. Knowing they will have more instruments to share the music is wonderful.”
