Music dominates Rocking on the River

Music continues Sunday in Blind River
The 10th annual Rocking on the River music weekend kicked off with rock band Swamp Dawgs playing at the opening today at 2 p.m.

The band has played the venue since 2015 joining a host of bands that make a stop to the Blind River event each year for the long August weekend.

Rocking on the River will feature some 18 different musical acts playing everything from acoustic music, country, rock and heavy metal.

The acts perform from a large stage on Guy Serre's Property that slopes down a slight hill to the stage adjacent to Blind River.

Rocking on the River is the brainchild of Serre who first started having jam sessions in his backyard 10 years ago. He wanted to create a musical venue where local and area bands could perform and present their music to the public hence Rocking on the River.

This weekend also includes food vendors, including a vendor selling cannabis edibles and hotdogs, sausage and sandwiches made up by Dawghouse vendor Matt from Elliot Lake.

There is also a motorcycle show and shine with a variety of prizes to be won in different categories.

The Metal Detector band will highlight Saturday evening's entertainment with Swamp Dawg returning around 11 p.m. for the after party.

The music continues on Sunday for the venue's second day.

Admission is $25 per person and organizers are asking those attending to bring non perishable food items for the Blind River Food Bank.

Attendees should also bring a lawn chair, coolers and refreshments to attend "Blind Rivers Best Kept Secret". No glass beverage containers are allowed on the property.

It's a time to relax and enjoy music, great summer weather, friends and new friends.
