Blind River council has approved some additional costs related to the relocation of Timber Village Museum and Art Gallery to the local marine park building.

Treasurer Sue Dent recommended council pay for Wayfinding Signs being billed by Laird Signs to direct visitors and residents to the museum’s new location on the waterfront.

Council officially opened the new location for the museum and gallery two weeks ago. Prior to its new location, the museum was located in a building just off Highway 17 adjacent to the fire hall. A structural report on the museum building found it was unsound and the facility was not fully accessible.

“Council authorized that the Timber Village Museum and Art Gallery be moved to the Blind River Marine Park due to issues with the museum building,” Dent noted in her recommendation for the new signage.

The treasurer said that although the cost was not “specifically budgeted for in 2019, staff is confident that this can be accommodated within the 2019 operating budget.”

Council agreed to pay the $1,581.64 bill from Laird Signs.
