The Ontario Provinical Police (OPP) in partnership with Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) participated in a Memorial Walk on Sept. 17, 2022 in Wikwemikong First Nation in memory of Anthony Samuel Mandamin.

On Sept. 16, 2006 at approximately 6 a.m. Anthony was struck and killed while walking on Kaboni Road in Wikwemikong First Nation. The driver of the unknown vehicle responsible for his death failed to remain at the scene, leaving the case unsolved. Anthony was only 25 years-old when he died.

Each year Anthony's family organizes a memorial walk in hopes of raising awareness so the person responsible will come forward. This year Acting Sergeant Ryan Carson of the OPP and Sergeant Dianne Trudeau of the WTPS walked alongside many of Anthony's family and Wikwemikong community members.

Both the OPP and WTPS ask that any person with information regarding the driver responsible for this incident, including witnesses who were passengers in this vehicle, should contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or WTPS at 705-859-3141.
