Witches in Blind River during the Blind River Fall Festival

Blind River mayor, Sally Hagman sent out her greetings to local witches for the successful witches dance held in the community on Saturday. The mayor read out her congratulations during council’s virtual meeting Monday evening.

“Congratulations to Kristy Blanchett (event organizer) and her band of merry witches for entertaining the crowds of viewers who were gathered on Woodward Avenue to witness their many dances,” she said. “The fall festival was a complete success with the street lined with vendors and games for the young at heart.”

The event had 28 witches performing, and has seen its numbers grow since it was first hosted five years ago with nine witches.

“This annual event was captured on CBC radio, CTV news and Elliot Lake Today,” she said. “We’ve put Blind River on the radar once again showing everyone that great things can come out of a little community!"

She also noted the upcoming Moon Light Madness sale with organizers putting their heads together to create another fun event with the theme of “shop local”.

More highlights on this initiative will be posted.
