On March 1, 2019 at approximately 5:30 p.m., East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were called to a residence on Bennett Drive in the City of Elliot Lake, Ont. in relation to a male refusing to leave the residence.

Police attended the residence and spoke to (the) complainant. She advised she had recently met the male online and invited him to her house a few days prior. The male then began to act very strangely and threatened the complainant. She asked him to leave the residence numerous times and he refused.

Police spoke to the male who did not seem to be making any sense and was still behaving very strangely. Again, he was advised to leave the property numerous times and he refused to do so. When police attempted to arrest the male he became physically resistive and assaultive.

Wing Hong (Brian) Kong, 37 years of age of no fixed address, was charged with:

  • Resist peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River, Ont. on March 2, 2019.
