Local firefighters pass the boot in annual fundraiser for muscular dystrophy

More money raised this year

Instead of fighting fires, the Elliot Lake Professional Firefighters’ Association was fighting for a different cause on Friday: muscular dystrophy.

Firefighters were stationed on both Hillside Drives and at the main entrance to the Pearson Plaza with boots in hands to help raise money for the cause.

In total, the Elliot Lake Professional Firefighters’ Association was able to raise $5,100. This total surpassed last year’s total of $4,400.

“Every year firefighters in North America collect tens of millions of dollars for muscular dystrophy. This money helps many people and someday soon we will find a cure,” their social media announced, before the drive.

The Elliot Lake Professional Firefighters’ Association says it would like to thank all those that supported this great cause.
