Get ready. The Laugh Out Loud (LOL) Sudbury Comedy Festival is coming back March 28-30 to tickle your funny bone.

This year’s festival includes new shows from Canada’s best talents, killer stand-up and local favorites, said a press release issued by the festival organizers.

Starting things off on Thursday, March 28, Kids in the Hall’s Bruce McCulloch brings his new one man show Tales of Bravery and Stupidity to Fraser Auditorium.

McCulloch gives a performance that is both funny and at times touching. Part stand up, part storytelling, McCulloch looks at some of the bravely stupid things that he has done, and things we all do as we get ourselves in and out of trouble as we throw ourselves at life.

On Friday, March 29, SiriusXM’s Top Comic Showcase a power house of some of the top stand-ups working in Canada.

The show brings winners and runners up in SiriusXM’s Top Comic annual stand-up competition. Hosted by Ben Miner, the show features Derek Seguin, Sterling Scott, Brian Stollery, Michelle Shaughnessy and Gavin Matts.

Rounding things off on Saturday, March 30, comedy super group Women Fully Clothed are back in town with their new show Invisible. Made up of Robin Duke, Jayne Eastwood, Kathryn Greenwood and Teresa Pavlinek, this show digs right in and mines the hilarity of their new stage of life through comedy and song.

In a society that barely sees us anymore, Women Fully Clothed makes sure we see ourselves – every gory, glorious detail of ourselves – all through tears of laughter.

“Bruce McCulloch and Women Fully Clothed are veterans of the Canadian comedy scene, and their new shows prove why,” said Tammy Frick, associate director of LOL Comedy Festival.

“Both shows mix humour and life together to provide a hilarious and poignant take on modern life.

“We are also thrilled to have SiriusXM’s Top Comics back this year. This headlining act is truly an all-star line-up featuring some of the hardest working and funniest comedians preforming in stand up today.”

But the festival is more than the headliners. This year LOL Sudbury is branching off to bring more club shows around the city, giving audiences different venues to see even more great comedians.

From Thursday to Saturday at 5:30 p.m., LOL Sudbury is hosting the Red Fang Happy Hour Cocktails and Comedy. Each day at the Red Fang we will be featuring three comedians in these 45 minute shows. It is a great way to kick off your festival day with a great club style show.

Then on Thursday at 9 p.m., we see the return of Don't Quit Your Day Job! at Overtime Sports Bar on Notre Dame Avenue. Once again a select few of Northern Ontario’s bravest celebrities have decided to leave behind their 9-5s for the LOL Sudbury stage and try their hand at comedy! and compete for a chance to pocket a cool $1,500 for the charity of their choice.

Friday offers up two club shows. At 8 p.m. we have TGIF at Cousin Vinny’s in Hanmer. Host Dave Atkinson will be joined by Lianne Maudalin, Patrick Haye, Matt Wright, Howie Miller, and Keith Pedro. Then at 9:30 p.m. we have the LOL Late Night show at the Alibi Room which is hosted by Ted Morris and featuring Andrew Barr and Rob Pue.

The festival will cap things off at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday at Little Montreal with Sudbury Saturday Night! Host Rob Pue will be joined by Derek Seguin, Lianne Maudalin, Howie Miller, Gavin Matts, and Matt Wright.

Tickets go on sale Feb. 11, and can be purchased online, at the festival's downtown box office, 40 Larch St. – Unit 103, and over the phone: 705-688-1234.
