Elliot Lake Intermediate School opened its doors last September on the campus of Elliot Lake Secondary School on Hillside Street at Mississauga Avenue.

School officials describe the first year for the grade seven and eight school as, "productive and engaging."

With that in mind, Elliot Lake Secondary School Principal Rick Juuti and Elliot Lake Intermediate School Principal Amanda Dunbar are currently inviting Elliot Lake Grade six students and their families to an open house next week.

It's a chance for grade six students who will be attending, or who are interested in attending Elliot Lake Intermediate School, to tour the school, visit classrooms and learning spaces and meet the staff.

The grade six contingent will drop in on Wednesday, May 25, from four to six p.m.

Currently, there are approximately 100 students enrolled in the Elliot Lake Intermediate School, operated by the Algoma District School Board.

Their grade seven and eight classrooms are located in a section of Elliot Lake Secondary School which has become a collaborative and supportive hub.

Students made the repurposed space their own this school year.

Their laptops and lockers became exciting additions for the intermediate students provided with learning spaces and tools geared to their specific needs and interests.
