Northern Ontario hospital receives largest private donation to date

$5 million to support Health Sciences North's new Innovation and Learning Centre

Marcel and Frances Labelle of Cochrane have donated $5 million to support Health Sciences North's new Innovation and Learning Centre.

The couple are the owners of MJ Labelle Company, a large general contractor that has been a Northern Ontario mainstay for more than 60 years.

It's the largest private donation ever made to the Sudbury hospital and the largest private donation ever made to any hospital in Northern Ontario.

Calling the event 'historic,' the hospital said the donation will have "lasting benefits for the people of northeastern Ontario."
