Group health plan cost increase approved for Blind River employees

The renewal is for the 2021 and 2022 term

The group health plan will continue for Blind River employees after council approved a 3.32 per cent increase or $$485.79 per month in its cost.

The Town of Blind River belongs to a Group Health Benefit Plan with 12 other townships/organizations.

The plan renews annually, and requires the town to pay a monthly fee to East Algoma Community Futures Development Corporation.

The renewal is for the 2021 and 2022 term. It is with Equitable Life and the plan administrator is Matrix Benefit Services and the broker is DONCOR Financial Services.

According to Blind River treasurer Sue Dent, “The approved increase will increase the total benefits by approximately $6,700 to approximately $208,700 annually.”
