TORONTO - Howard and Darla Hennessey of Elliot Lake said despite their big windfall, they were able to remain reserved and calm after realizing they won $226,251.50 in the May 4, 2019 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“We play Ontario 49 and Lotto 6/49,” shared Howard, a 63-year-old retiree, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings. “But you never actually think you’re going to win!”
The married parents of two and grandparents of six plan to donate to their favourite charities and share with family. “We’re also going to do some home renovations,” added Darla, a 62-year-old events coordinator.
Since its launch in June 1982, Ontario Lotto 6/49 players have won over $12.6 billion in prizes, including 1,372 jackpot wins and 280 Guaranteed $1 Million Prize draws.
The winning ticket was purchased at Hillside Shop & Save on Hillside Drive in Elliot Lake.
