Oh, holy night! The holiday season came early in the small community of Blind River. The Christmas parade held on Nov. 15 is the tradition that launches this festive time.

A street is closed to allow the floats to ride safely and distribute candies to all children, and of course some adults with a sweet tooth, who brave the cold to see the parade. École Saint-Joseph (Blind River) participates in this event every year.

This time, their theme was the Francophonie in the North. Decorated with firs, green lights and a large Franco-Ontarian flag, the float was escorted by École Saint-Joseph staff and students who were well dressed with sports jerseys from the school.

These school representatives danced all the way to the sound of French music that came from the float’s speakers. What a wonderful gesture to show that the Franco-Ontarian Catholic culture is alive and well and celebrated year-round! Merry Christmas to everyone!
