Homes, yards, bikes get decked out for city-hosted Canada Day contest

The City of Elliot Lake announced the winners of its Canada Day decorating contests this week. Households were judged on their homes and yards, and children were judged on bike decorations.

The winners had a maple leaf placed on their lawns after judging took place on Monday. Prizes included a coin collection from Canada Post.

Top houses honours went to Chantal Robert, Jessie Hennessey, Jessica Cyr, Christine Manual Percival, Marcel Mantha, Wanda and Jeff Robinson, Nelson Trottier, Cory Vermec-Cuthbert, Jackie and Joseph O'Neill,  Lorna Kardal, Kevin and Tillie Clancy, and the Digenovia family.

Honourable mentions were awarded to Kendall Chi, Karen Harding, Anna King, Dan and Pam Berry, Jennifer Lalonde, Angela Howells, Stacy Yensen, and Margaret Pollard.

Children's entries were awarded to Kayden and Colton Colquhan, Elijah Hennessey and Shannon Wallace, Keegan and Owen Prevost, Payton Van Santan, Chloe Laronde, Camryn Hennessey-Pulvermacher, and Blair McKie.

The judges included Karen Lewis, Councillor Sandy Finamore, Gracie Finamore, MP Carol Hughes, MPP Mike Mantha, Director of Culture and Recreation Teresa Dunlop, and Darrin and Joanna Moggy.

Elliot Lake Events Coordinator Darla Hennessey, said thanks are due to William Elliott and Chris Labreche of Elliot Lake Rotary for participating in the Canada Day tour held on July 1. She also singled out Councillor Ed Pearce for his participation.
