Elliot Lakers celebrate Canada Day (6 photos)

Proud Canadians young and old got into the spirit of celebration with decorations

Amid Coronavirus restrictions, The Elliot Recreation and Culture department hosted a competition where residents, young and old, decorated home exteriors with 10 winners chosen in the adult category and 10 in the children’s class.

Residents were urged to, “whip out your Christmas lights, Canada Flags, Hockey Sticks or anything that represents Canada and decorate your house or children's vehicle to compete against your neighbours in this fun new way to celebrate Canada,” the department’s website told residents.

The contest was judged on June 29 with a maple leaf sign placed on front lawns as well as receiving a special gift.

Results were not known at press time but will be posted on Elliot Lake Today once they are available.
