The 38th annual Elliot Lake Santa Claus Parade had the crowd on their feet and cheering on Dec. 1 to kick-start the Christmas month.

Over 20 floats were parading the streets handing children candy while singing carols.

One resident said she was impressed and delighted with the amount of creativity at this year's parade.

"The weather was fantastic for the first time in year," said Sheila Holmes. "The creativity and originality of these floats were absolutely incredible. It was well put together."

The parade began with a police escort accompanied by emergency services with their vehicles decorated in Christmas lights and finished with jolly old St. Nick surrounded by our local Elliot Lake Junior A Wildcats, acting as Santa's reindeers.

Some floats consisted of Tim Horton's, KFC, local schools, Animal Shelter, ATV Club, Girl Guides, flag carrier Mayor Dan Marchisella and the Ghostbuster vehicle. Children were also able to hand in their written wish list for Santa Claus and handed them to local postal workers throughout the parade.

The parade finished off at Collins Hall where volunteers and parade watchers were able to warm up and enjoy hot chocolate.
