Elliot Lake hosts Labor Day fun (6 photos)

BBQ and activities part of first event the city has held in a year and a half

Kids and parents came out in droves for the first public event in Elliot Lake since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

Westview Park was the location for a park barbecue and fun games, including the popular kids bouncy land, rock climbing for all ages and midway games with a scheduled fireworks display set for Monday evening.

Today was the second day of events at the park that in pre-pandemic days was the location for the annual Labor Day or Canada Day fireworks. There were also similar events held on Sunday with a planned, quiet fireworks display at dusk.

Events on both days started at 2 p.m.

The North Shore Cruisers Club organized a barbecue and sold t-shirts as part of its fundraising for community events and groups.

The fireworks this evening are set to begin at 9:30 or at dusk.

COVID-19 restrictions are in place including provincial and Algoma Public Health Unit restrictions.
