The seven members of Elliot Lake city council are set to approve the makeup of city council's five standing committees, 16 City of Elliot Lake committees, four ad hoc committees and 13 external committees and boards the city has representation on.

They'll consider Elliot Lake Mayor Dan Marchisella's recommendations for the 38 positions to be filled.

The mayor would be 'king' of the committees under his recommended staffing model, with a spot for him on 27 committees.

Mayor Marchisella is automatically a member 'ex officio' of all five standing committees which include Finance and Administration, Public Services, Economic Development, By-laws and Planning and Recreation and Culture.

Mayor Marchisella is also a member 'ex officio' of all 16 City of Elliot Lake committees such as the Residential Development Commission and the Youth Advisory Committee.

Heading into the next council meeting there are no appointments listed for the Property Standards, Compliance Audit and the Committee of Adjustment.

Mayor Marchisella is also expected to serve on four ad hoc committees, which are Community Hub, Budget, Smart City and Community Health Care. (All members of city council will serve on the ad Hoc 2019 Budget Committee).

In addition to that, the mayor expects to serve on some 13 external committees such as the Algoma District Services Administration Board.

Councillor Norman Mann is expected to serve on 13 committees and boards, followed by Councillors Luc Cyr and Ed Pearce at 12 spots each. Councillor Sandy Finamore would serve on 11 committees including becoming the chair of the Recreation and Culture standing committee.

Councillor Mann would chair Finance and Administration, Ed Pearce would be headed for By-laws and Planning, and Luc Cyr, for Public Services.

Councillors Chris Patrie and Tom Turner would each serve on nine committees and boards.

Councillor Patrie is slated to chair the Economic Development Committee. In his first term, Councillor Turner would not be a committee chair but would serve as a member of the Recreation and Culture Committee, as his standing committee responsibility.

As you read here in ElliotLakeToday last week, councillors Ed Pearce and Chris Patrie are going to fulfil
part of their external board responsibilities as members of the board of the Elliot Lake Wildcats junior hockey club.
