The Elliot Lake 8 Ball house league hosted its playoff finals this week, with Balls of Fire taking top spot and pocketing $1,711.19.

Coming in second was the Section 8 Ball team and getting $1,141.00. Third place went to Diamond Cutters with the team receiving a Pin of recognition.

The Elliot Lake 8 Ball House League had 14 teams this session with 108 players. The league plays out of the Moose Hall.

“That’s a Huge difference from when we started in 2017 with only 28 players,” ‘league organizer Joanna Moggy said. “It’s been a great session with lots of new faces.

Balls of Fire members captured top spot with a 5-1 win. Members are captain Daniel Burns, co-captain Dave Arnold and shooters Andy Bernard, Guy Meilleur, Brad Matheson, Michel Charette and Ken Campbell. Playing for the second place Section 8 Ball team were captain Darin Moggy, co-captain Liz Clark, Dennis Frauts, Rick Gervais, Peter Rombouts, Murray Warner, Joanna Moggy and John Bagkey.

The league will now go on summer break until the new session begins on September 2. In the meantime 8/9 Ball tournaments will be held throughout the summer at the Moose Hall and are open to the public.

“Our League promises that you will have fun, meet new friends and become a better pool player.” She added. “We are always looking for new players to come out.”
