CanSkate Canada is coming to Elliot Lake starting Oct. 19 to help youngsters learn the fundamentals of skating.

Skating is one of the most popular sports in the world today. In Canada more than six million people lace up skates every year, and there are many winter celebrations that feature skating.

The program will run every Thursday from 5:15-5:55 p.m at Centennial Arena.

This will help skaters learn balance, control and agility to help them prepare for any ice skating sport or recreational skating. It is also designed for 90 per cent movement so skaters learn in an active and fun group setting. The fundamentals of skating will help students learn to skate as well as help improve their hockey/ringette abilities, help them understand figure skating and synchronized skating.

The cost associated of the program is $90 plus an additional $40 for insurance purposes as well as a $40 fundraiser fee.

The CanSkate program will run for 10 weeks and is geared to children two to 16.

For more information, contact Chantal Robert at the Centennial Arena on Oct.19 before 5:15 p.m.
