A delay in the delivery of parts for a new plow truck in Blind River has forced council to rent a plow truck at $2,000 per week for about two weeks.

Council was informed of the arrangement at its regular meeting on Monday evening by clerk-administrator Kathryn Scott.

Scott said in her report that the new truck was expected to be delivered “the first week of December, however there was a delay in the delivery of the plow wing from the manufacturer.”

“We are in a situation where we cannot certify the current plow as the cost of repairs would put us farther behind then the cost of a rental truck for a week to week until delivery of our new plow truck,” Scott said. “The liability of not having two plow trucks available to maintain our current level of service could be a very heavy liability to the municipality.”

The agreement for the rental has been reached with Beamish Construction.

Scott said there is ample money in the public works budget for equipment rental to cover the cost.
