NEWS RELEASE
ST. JOSEPH'S GENERAL HOSPITAL ELLIOT LAKE
************************
St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake (SJGHEL) would like to inform the public that the recent COVID outbreak on the first floor in our Continuing Care Unit has been declared over by Algoma Public Health. The visiting restrictions that were previously in place have been lifted, and normal visiting hours have now resumed. SJGHEL would like to remind everyone that the Universal Masking Policy remains in effect, requiring all staff, visitors, and patients to wear a mask while on the premises, as flu season is now upon us.

The Outbreak Management Team would like to express its gratitude to the staff and patients on the first floor for their diligence and cooperation. Please take a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication of all involved in successfully bringing this outbreak to a close.

SJGHEL would like to remind everyone there are several things that can be done to protect yourself and others from COVID-19:

  1. Wear a Mask: Always wear a mask in spaces where Universal Masking is a requirement, to help prevent the spread of the virus.
  2. Practice Good Hand Hygiene: Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 15 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  3. Stay Home if Unwell: If you feel unwell or exhibit symptoms such as a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, stay home and avoid contact with others. Seek medical advice if necessary.

For more information on how to protect yourself from the flu and other viruses, please visit the Algoma Public Health website www.algomapublichealth.com.
