Elliot Lake City Council voted to remove Councillor Chris Patrie from all external boards and committees he'd been serving on, on Nov. 25. Next, his fellow councillors will be asked to approve some of their own as his replacements. It's coming Monday night at the next regular council meeting.

As suggested by Mayor Dan Marchisella, Councillor Tom Turner would be named to the city's Economic Development Advisory Committee and the Algoma District Administration Board.

The mayor has suggested that Councillor Ed Pearce serve on the Shared Use Trails Committee, Councillor Sandy Finamore would take a seat on the Elliot Lake Library Board and Councillor Norman Mann would be ensconced with the Algoma District Municipal Association.

In his submission, Mayor Marchisella said, "This recommendation will create an equal distribution of work for members of council both on the advisory level and as well for external boards."

Along with Patrie's removal from the external committees and boards, council also voted at its last meeting to suspend his pay for eight months.

The changes followed a council review of the findings of reports and recommended sanctions presented by Elliot Lake's former Integrity Commissioner, E4M of Sault Ste. Marie.

Patrie refused to resign his council.seat as E4M recommended and told council he would continue to fight against the IC's findings against him.
