Collaboration will improve services for local Indigenous people

Mamaweswen, Serpent River First Nation and the Municipality of Elliot Lake are ecstatic to share in the news of its newly founded collaboration to maximize services for Indigenous people in the surrounding area and the city of Elliot Lake.

On Monday Aug. 22 we will be hosting a membership Drive and Family BBQ at Westview Park in Elliot Lake, Ontario from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. There is no charge to attend and everyone is welcome to join.

In the spirit of reconciliation Serpent River First Nation, and the Municipality of Elliot Lake are working together on opportunities to delivery services to Indigenous People in the area with a holistic model, that will better serve and connect the on and off reserve Indigenous population.

The Indigenous Friendship Centre in Elliot Lake is holding a membership drive, which includes participation in the programs and services, a vote at the Annual General Membership meeting, and the opportunity to work as part of a cohesive organization to advocate for Indigenous Peoples as well as run for a position on the Board of Directors.

We would love for you to join us at Westview Park in Elliot Lake, Ontario on Monday Aug. 22 to see what it is all about!

NSTC Chairperson and Chief of SRFN Brent Bissailion and Elliot Lake Mayor Dan Marchisella will be on hand and working the grill, come get some food and have fun at the park!
