Recently, the City has become aware of a telephone scam where a caller indicates they represent the City of Elliot Lake and are soliciting donations for a COVID-19 preparedness fund.
Residents are warned not to share personal information and that this is a fraudulent call. The City of Elliot Lake does not fundraise for municipal purposes by telephone or any means.
Anyone contacted can report the scam to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or visit their website.
