Even in this period of COVID-19 protocols, the Elliot Lake arts community is looking for ways to spotlight local members of the arts community.

The Arts and Culture Committee of the City of Elliot Lake has launched a call for submissions for a Community Banner Project with the theme of 'Our Town—Past, Present, or Future'.

In a news release, the Elliot Lake Downtown Art Project Committee said it "seeks to showcase Elliot Lake artists, young and old, while celebrating the reopening of our downtown.

"Artists of all ages and skill levels are asked to prepare designs for consideration for street banners that will be displayed along Ontario Avenue and Highway 108. Up to 40 designs will be selected and printed.

"The design theme should in some way reflect a time period from Elliot Lake’s history, present day or even imagine what it may look like in the future. Artists may submit up to three designs each."

Those who enjoy drawing, painting or designing and are eager to share their talents with the community, can access the guidelines and template on the City’s website.

Artists are encouraged to review the guidelines carefully before preparing submissions.
