In just a little more than a week children in Elliot Lake aged 5-11 will be able to get a children's dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in the city.
The Elliot Lake Family Health Team is asking families to call and book an appointment because they will not be opening it to walk-ins.
We just want to make sure everyone is spaced out make it as least little anxiety-inducing as possible," said Jay Reaume, clinical pharmacist for the Elliot Lake Family Health Team.
Reaume also said local pharmacies who had been offering COVID-19 vaccines for adults will offer pediatric vaccines at some point but he was unaware of when that might start.
So far, one clinic is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at Collins Hall from 4 to 6 p.m.
"We are waiting to hear from Algoma Public Health to see how many vaccines we will get," Reaume said when asked if more clinics would be scheduled. "We just have the one [scheduled] for now but hope to have more."
