Blind River Mayor Sally Hagman took the opportunity at Monday evening’s council meet to thank the work being done by the town’s public works staff during poor weather.

And she took the opportunity to also thank an anonymous resident for her assistance to the staff.

“Once again Blind River Town Council would like to recognize our Public Works staff for clearing our streets starting at 3 a.m. and for finding the leaks in our water lines in subzero temperatures. These guys have been working long hours seven days a week to ensure that our community is safe,” the mayor said.

“I would also like to acknowledge the resident who took it upon herself to give Tim Horton’s gift certificates to the crew. This random act of kindness goes a long way in making the public works crew feel validated amidst a myriad of complaints. We have been setting records in snow fall accumulation and cold temperatures this year,” she added.

“The good news is that the daylight hours are increasing daily.”
