As Blind River Mayor Sally Hagman vowed during the municipal election, the town will be hosting its second public information meeting.

During the municipal election, Mayor Hagman vowed to host two public information meetings each year to keep residents up to date on what council is doing and to allow residents to bring their own concerns to a public forum.

“The Town of Blind River Public Information Session will be taking place at the Community Centre on Tuesday July 9 from 2 – 4 p.m. with the same session taking place Tuesday evening from 7 – 9 p.m.,” the mayor announced at Monday evening’s council meeting.  “Topics to be presented include an update on our Strategic Economic Development Plan, a presentation on our Service Delivery Review, a Facilities Review and Update; and, Financial Update and a demonstration on how to use a defibrillator.”

“We encourage all residents to send any questions or concerns that you might have to [email protected] by July 5. Your questions will be answered at the end of the presentations. We like having your questions in advanced that we can research the answers on your behalf,” the mayor added about the issues residents can bring to the public sessions.

Prior to the public session, the town is in the process of planning Canada Day events.

“We are gearing up for the Canada Day celebrations which will be taking place at the Marine Park. This is an opportunity to take celebrate the 152nd anniversary of Canada, participate in 'the Race' as well as a chance to view our new Art Gallery and Museum,” Mayor Hagman said of the events taking place at the Marina.
