Blind River Mayor Sally Hagman takes the opportunity at each council meeting to talk about activities and events taking place in the community. Each address is started by an acknowledgement, “That we are on Mississauga First Nation land.”

At Monday evening’s council meeting the mayor noted that, “June is ParticipACTION month and it’s a great opportunity to see the new walking/biking path that links Youngfox Road to Eldorado Road.”

“Another great walk/bike will take you to the Wave Café and Timber Village Museum at their new location at the Blind River Marine Park,” she added.

She also talked about council’s proclamation that “June 3-9 has been proclaimed Parachute Safe Kids Week in Blind River and across Canada. Please be mindful in ensuring that our children are living in a safe environment.”

She urged motorists travelling around town that this Thursday is Cameco Cares Day. Cameco workers will be conducting clean-ups around Blind River.

“Please remember to show your gratitude by honking your car horn when you see the employees making improvements to our community,” she said.

Mayor Hagman also noted that this Friday is the beginning of the Senior Games Event.

“Special thanks goes out to Cameco and all of our sponsors! This is a fun filled evening plus a day of activities for those that are a half century plus. Registrations are being taken at the Town Hall so we hope you’ll stop by so you too can join the fun,” she added.
