Blind River council members chosen for committees

Many local boards and committees divided among six councillors, mayor

Blind River council members have been chosen to sit on a wide range of committees and boards for the 2018 to 2022 term of office.

As expected, Mayor Sally Hagman will sit on many of the committees and boards. She will be on the Algoma District Services Administration Board, Algoma Public Health, Accessibility Committee, Blind River Development Corporation (BRDC), the town’s budget committee comprised of all members of council, Bylaw and Planning committee, Environmental Monitoring, the Golf Course board, Huron Shores Health Network, North Shore Power Group (NSPG), Physician Recruitment, Policy Committee, and Recreation and Parks.

Councillor Paula Summers will hold the position of deputy mayor and will sit on the Finance and Property Committee, Festivals/Recreation Committee, Police Services Board, NSPG, and Public Services.

Councillor Jim Dunbar will sit on the Algoma District Municipal Association, Ecological Resource, Recycling and Energy Efficiency Committee, Festivals/Recreation, Non-Profit Housing and Long-Term Care, Timber Village Museum, Public Services and Recreation and Parks.

Newly elected Councillor Betty Ann Dunbar will sit on the BRDC board, Huron North Alliance, Library Board and Recreation and Parks.

Councillor Clifford Spratt will sit on the BRDC board, ELNOS board, Golf Course board, and NSPG.

Councillor HP Roy will sit on the Finance and Property committee, Non-Profit Housing and Long-Term Care, Public Services, and the Seniors’ Cultural Centre.

Councillor Steve Wells will sit on the Accessibility Committee, Bylaw and Planning Committee, Finance and Property, Library Board, Non-Profit Housing and Long-Term Care, Policy Committee, and Timber Village Museum.
