This weekend, Sept. 29 and 30, will see art lovers and artists come together as three different art exhibitions take place in and around Elliot Lake.

The largest venue will be the Arts on the Trail exhibit featuring 28 artists and artisans displaying their work at three locations; the Collins Hall, Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre and Camp Thompson on South Bay Road about 10 minutes north of the city.

Arts on the Trail will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday only and will feature artists displaying and selling a wide range of mediums from woodworking, painting, jewlery, weaving, pottery to Indigenous art. The venue will also have some of Elliot Lake’s well-known musicians playing at the various locations.

The Art Among Friends Show and Exhibition is also taking place this weekend and is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The venue will have 10 artists set up at Laurentian Lodge, one of the most scenic places in the area situated on beautiful Flack Lake.

Also featured at the lodge are a wide range of artistic mediums which include gourd-crafted art, photography, woodworking, pottery and paintings.

The show runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. Enjoy a lunch or supper at the lodge or just take in a snack and refreshment while enjoying the fantastic scenery outside the large log structure.

Dunlop Lodge is the third venue for an art exhibit and is located at the lodge on the north side of Dunlop Lake. It’s the second year for Arts at Dunlop and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Beside the art exhibits there will be music by local musicians and special attractions for the children. Again, Dunlop Lodge offers food and refreshments with a special menu geared to children. Admission is free.

Also take part in special draws at the art exhibits in town and north of Elliot Lake.

For those interested in viewing work done by local and area artists, this weekend’s three art venues are prime reasons to travel to Elliot Lake.
