Art gallery celebrating 10 years

Elliot Lake Art Gallery celebrates anniversary in new spot

The space is a bit smaller but the scope of art remains strong as the Elliot Lake Art Gallery celebrates it 10th anniversary.

Originally located in larger quarters in the Lester B. Pearson civic centre 10 years ago, the Gallery at the Centre group, was forced to move after the collapse of a portion of the civic centre roof in February that forced the permanent closure of the building.

The closure resulted in gallery artists having to find a new temporary location to display and sell their works. They have moved to the rear of the Sticks and Stones retail outlet at 151 Ontario Avenue in Elliot Lake.

On Oct. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the gallery is hosting an open house to celebrate the new location. The public is invited to come in, see the art on display, talk with some of the artists and enjoy refreshments and snacks. Local politicians have also been invited to the event.

Local artists who will be on hand for the celebration include, Linda Finn, Linda Duke, Murray Finn, Lillian Asquith, Jola Klim, Dani Lynn Redgrift-Berthelot, Kissed by a Hammer artists Barb and Keith, Gwendlyn Reed-Goulet and Cornelia Svela.

Art featured will include, acrylic and watercolor paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, prints and wood.

The gallery’s business hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
