APH reporting four new COVID cases

Algoma Public Health is reporting four new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

Of the new cases, three are in the Sault Ste. Marie area, while the other is in Central and east Algoma.

The new cases bring the total number of COVID cases in Algoma since the start of the pandemic to 258.

Case No. 255, tested on April 8, and Case No. 257, tested on April 6, fall under the exposure category of unknown, meaning the individual did not have any close contact with a known confirmed case or international travel.

Cases 256 and 258, both tested on April 8, are in the exposure category of close contact, meaning they were infected through close contact with a known confirmed case.

All four individuals are currently self-isolating.

There are currently 30 active COVID cases in the Algoma region, one of which is currently hospitalized.
