APH reporting five new COVID cases

Algoma Public Health is reporting five new COVID-19 cases in the region, all of which are in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

The new cases bring the total number of cases in the region since the start of the pandemic to 253.

There are currently 27 active cases in the region, one of which is hospitalized.

Case No. 249, tested on April 6, was exposed through close contact, meaning the individual was infected through close contact with a known confirmed case.

Case No. 250, also tested on April 6, is under the unknown exposure category, meaning the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

Cases 251 and 252, tested on April 7, as well as case 253, tested on April 6, also fall under the exposure category of unknown.

All five individuals are currently self-isolating.

Algoma regions with COVID cases reported in the last two weeks include:

  • Central and east Algoma
  • Sault Ste. Marie and area
  • Elliot Lake and area
