Dr. Cathy Groh, a member of the Elliot Lake Family Health Team (ELFHT), has taken to social media with another message about COVID-19.

Sunday she posted a graphic, and this message:

This graphic is an example of how one couple's weekend away resulted in 30 cases of COVID-19. It demonstrates how fast COVID-19 can be spread in a community.

If this was an infected person coming to Elliot Lake for a weekend, attending a house party one night, and then the next day going shopping and having dinner at a restaurant, this could happen in our town. We are not protected from COVID-19 just because there are no cases here.

But we can protect ourselves and our community. Stay home if you are unwell. Wear a mask and social distance in public. Sanitize your hands. Avoid gatherings in crowded, close, confined spaces. Limit your social contacts.

Get tested if you have symptoms.

The people of Elliot Lake have prevented COVID-19 from spreading in our community since the start of the pandemic. We can continue to do this."

Dr. Groh has issued a number of such postings via social media and represented ELFHT several times on City of Elliot Lake-sponsored COVID-19 virtual presentations streamed on the the city's website.
