Local schools may have been closed to in-person learning by Public Health Sudbury & Districts, but we’re still getting reports of COVID-19 cases associated with local school communities as more people test positive, and even reports of school outbreaks.

Public Health Sudbury has now declared an outbreak at Confederation Secondary School in Val Caron after a fourth person in that school community tested positive for COVID-19.

In a letter dated March 18 posted to its website, the Rainbow District School Board said with evidence of widespread transmission at Confederation Secondary, the health unit has directed that all staff and students must self-isolate until March 26, and be tested for COVID-19.

More specific information about the Confederation Secondary outbreak can be found in the letter from the Rainbow board.

There are 39 active cases of COVID-19 associated with local school communities, and six active outbreaks at local schools.
